Biography

Justin Carey is a photographic artist interested in ideas of memory, self-discovery, and the social and environmental determinants of identity, whose expressive work invites the viewer into a discussion of these universal themes. In 2023 he curated a collection of night photography, published in the book Night Moods by Shutter Hub Editions, and was named as a resident artist at New Art Exchange, Nottingham. Work from his project ‘Life Before COVID Was Ticking Along…’ was shown at FORMAT photography festival in 2021 and published in the book The Travelling World Is Not Arriving in the same year. His work has been featured on the Photo Ethics Podcast and in The Week. He is based in Birmingham, UK.
